§ 14-186. Technical standards; design criteria, standards and specifications.

Latest version.
  • The following methods shall be used in designing BMPs, water quality, peak flow control and infiltration components of stormwater practices needed to meet the water quality standards of this article:

    (1)

Design guidance and technical standards identified or developed by the state department of natural resources under Wis. Admin. Code ch. NR 151, subchapter V (Wis. Admin. Code §§ NR 151.30—151.32).

    (2)

For this article, soil loss is calculated using the appropriate rainfall or runoff factor, also referred to as the R factor, or an equivalent design storm using a Type II distribution with consideration given to the geographic location of the site and the period of disturbance.

    (3)

The following year and location has been selected as average annual rainfall: Green Bay, 1969 (Mar. 29 through Nov. 25).

    (4)

Where technical standards have not been identified or developed by the state department of natural resources, other technical standards may be used provided that the methods have been approved by the city engineering department.

Note to users: The USLE and its successors RUSLE and RUSLE2, utilize an R factor which has been developed to estimate annual soil erosion, averaged over extended time periods. The R factor can be modified to estimate monthly and single-storm erosion.
